William H. Carmines
As a result of my family history as well as my interest in taxation and politics, I have chosen to focus my practice on estate planning, estate, trust and conservatorship administration, fiduciary services, elder law, asset protection and business planning.
I began my career in Washington, D.C. where I worked on Capitol Hill and then with the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom. I have practiced law in the Hampton Roads area since 2007.
I have advanced my interests in estate planning and elder law with extensive education. I earned my L.L.M (Masters of Laws) degree in estate planning and elder law in 2010. I attained my Juris Doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio, where I was an associate editor of the International Law Review. Legal Research I completed in that program has been published and used as a teaching aid by professors in law schools. I have been a contributing author for a book on estate planning.
My goal is to assist my clients, and their families, to preserve their wealth and to have the ability to pass it on to the next generation. I have a background in family counseling, which comes in handy when attempting to navigate the pitfalls of planning an estate and then helping the family go, step by step, through the administration of the estate upon the passing of a family member.
I am a native of Poquoson, Virginia and have lived in the Hampton Roads area for most of my life. I am the past President of the Board of Directors for the Historic Triangle Senior Center. I am a member of the Williamsburg Republican Party and a member of the Republican National Lawyers Association. I am a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Wealth Counsel, and the Virginia Bar Association. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends, family and my dog, London, traveling and watching football.
